FOTD

I have a lot of unopened make-ups, the Chantecaille Sea Turtle palette is one of them. I bought this one from Mecca a while ago but never had the heart to spoil the embossing because it is just too beautiful to look at. It is time for me to use it as I have way too many makeups to be reviewed in the near future.

From a makeup collector point of view, Chantecaille limited edition palettes are pieces of art. Their palettes look and feel like true luxury. Unlike other brands, Chantecaille only release a few palettes a year, the quality has always been consistently superior. What I love the most is the color coordination of their palettes. I rarely come across a face or eye shadow palette where I like every single shade. Chantecaille is an exception – it only comes with the most refined and elegant neutral shades that are designed to enhance your natural beauty.

This palette contains 3 eye shades and 1 cheek shade, all inspired by the beauty of the sea turtles and their nesting grounds.

These shadows are buttery soft and easy to blend. Pigmentation wise they are on the moderately sheer side as they are designed to leave a sheer veil of color on the skin with a subtle glowing effect.

chantecaille-sea-turtle-palette-swatchI created a smokey look using this palette – using the champagne color all over my lid, the brown shade over the crease and the dark teal color along my lash line and on the outer v.

FOTD – Rosy Cheeks

April 9, 2011

I have a birthday dinner to go tonight, I made an effort to do my makeup hours before so I can take some time to do a few snaps for FOTD.  My makeup for tonight is quite natural. Main focus is the rosy cheeks (When I think of Autumn I think of rosy cheek) –  eyes and lips are kept neutral as I don’t like to have too much makeup on since my friends usually only wear minimum makeup.

Sportsgirl Makeup

April 2, 2011

I was going to do a post on face products part 2 – foundations overview, but I got sidetracked because I found some lovely treasures at Sportsgirl today. I went there to pick up a hat but their makeups totally caught my attention! I must have been living under a rock for the past few years – I had no idea Sportsgirl is doing makeups these days…and the quality surpasses my expectation of drugstore products. Their products are really smooth textured and pigmented, and the color selection is right up my alley – can’t say about the lasting power yet..

Being a sensible shopper, (haha who am I kidding..:-P) I only picked up 4 items today. 1 Eye Color Pencil, 2 lip crayons and 1 lip gloss.

See the color payoff in my swatches below, these were just 1 swipe each. And the colors are absolutely gorgeous.

As soon as I got home, I couldn’t wait to try them on my face. I applied the teal part of the pencil along my upper lash line, and the gunmetal part along my lower lash line. They are very soft to apply, doesn’t tug my skin.

The pink  lip crayon is a very barbie pink or “Jessica Simpson” color – a color I would hardly reach for. I don’t find it flattering on me and in the picture below I had to apply lots of bronzing power to make me look less washed out.  If you look like Jessica Simpson, or a blond, or tanned, then this is the color for you!

Lurrrve the beige crayon – actually it appears more of a rosy brown on me. I have been obsessed with anything beige and brown since the start of Autumn.

Lastly, this is the new hat I bought from Sportsgirl, love it!

NARS Nouveau Monde Swatch

March 24, 2011

NARS Nouveau Monde is another must have eyeshadow duo from Nars – it is part of the NARS Spring 2011 collection. When it comes to eye shadows, I know Nars will never let me down. The beauty of Nars duo eyeshadow is when you look at the color combination in the pan, sometimes they do seem odd to me. When you have them on your eyes, this is the moment you realise Francois Nars is a genius for makeup creation.

The combination of Nouveau Monde was beyond my expectation the moment I applied them on my eyes. The lilac shade is just perfection. It is not frosty, neither too silvery nor too bluey, just a perfect lavender shade with a taupe undertone. I was a bit wary about the moss shade at first –  it can look too warm on me. Surprisingly it complements the cool toned lavender shade.

The thought of wearing lavender and moss shades to the office has never crossed my mind until I found this one. I would totally wear this color combination to work tomorrow – glad tomorrow is Friday!

NARS Kalahari FOTD

March 13, 2011

I went to a boat party on Saturday night and this is the makeup I wore. I like to wear false eyelashes to parties just to add a touch of glamorous effect to my makeup. I normally go for neutral eye shadows to balance the dramatic effect of false eyelashes so I don’t end up looking like a drag queen.

It is the time of the year when the new spring makeup collections are arriving in Australia. This probably is the time of the year I anticipated with excitement the most (other than public holidays!), as I LOVE spring inspired hues seen in each collection, they are beautiful to be collected yet subtle and natural enough to wear throughout all seasons.

Today I like to talk about Ombres Perlees de Chanel Palette, which has been the talk of the town amongst beauty bloggers for a while. I had this palette for a week now and I can say it totally lived up to its hype. The beauty of this palette is its versatility. These eye shadows can be worn sheer as well as dramatic due to its creamy texture that can be built to your desire.

I did a subtle eye makeup with this palette today. It takes no effort to apply these cream textured eye shadows – the easiest way is to apply them with your fingers. I have yet found a brush that picks up the eyeshadow well considering I have an extensive collection of makeup brushes. Please do let me know your preferred brush.

Here are some close-up shots of my eyes:

I used:

a: pink pearl

b: a very sheer wash of the green pearl

c: black pearl on the outer corner

d: white pearl on the tear duct

e: the purple pearl along the lower lash line

Ombres-Perlees-de-Chanel-on-eye-2Now let’s move on to the products I used on my face. My FOTD is totally inspired by the makeup worn by the model in the Chanel spring 2011 makeup campaign, so most products I used are Chanels.

Face: Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation and Chanel Illuminating Makeup Base

Cheeks and Lip: Mac Blush in Pinch O Peach and Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in 42
