LIP GLOSS

The matte lips trend has been going strong for a while, and as much as I still embrace the look,  it is exciting and refreshing to see that a lot of my favorite beauty brands are releasing new lip formulas in glossy finish! The Chanel has recently released the new Rouge Coco Gloss Moisturising Glossimer (bought here in Australia), that is one of my all time favorite lip gloss which I have been collecting over the years for all the pretty and juicy colors! The new release comes in 25 new shades from soft nudes to vibrant colors in a more lightweight and moisturizing formula. After staring at the official online swatches for hours, I picked my top 3 colors – 172 Tendresse, 738 Amuse-Bouche and 756 Chilli.

The new formula feels more lightweight,  non-sticky with much better-lasting power with the darker colors almost feeling like lip stains. It is packed with lots of moisturizing ingredients such as peptides and vitamin E so it also hydrates, smoothes out the lip lines, and instantly plump up the lips for a more youthful appearance. The intensely high-shine finish reminds me of how much I used to adore the pretty glossy look. I love this vibrant color in a lacquered jelly-like finish as it adds a more youthful and fresh spin to the makeup look.

Another thing worthy of mention is the newly designed applicator that comes in a cocoon tip. It makes the application super even and smooth, and the curved tip follows the natural contour of the lips for a more precise and better control.

172 Tendresse is a soft peachy pink color with beautiful pink shimmer in a translucent gloss finish. Looks great to layer on top of lipstick, or wear it alone for a hint of color as swatched.

Continuing with my review for the Chanel Libre Holiday 2016 collection. The Chanel Velvet Nail Polish Pink Rubber was reviewed here, and today’s post is for the Joues Contraste Blush in Hyperfresh and the Rouge Allure Gloss in Super Nude. These were the only two makeup items I picked up from the collection. I bought them in a heartbeat as soon as I saw them in the store. Both colors are very pretty, and most importantly, they look very flattering when they are applied and are great for everyday use rather than being limited to a festival makeup.

Hyperfresh is an ultra vibrant warm pink blush. Chanel is known for their subtle and elegant color payoff, but every now and then, they make the most vibrant and rich hues that you can’t miss such as this color. There is very subtle shimmer in it, but once applied the shimmer is not detectable on the skin. As usual, it gives a lovely flush of pink color with a soft glow. Since it’s ultra pigmented, I would suggest using a very soft and fluffy brush (such as the HG Suqqu Cheek Brush) for the application.

Hyperfresh is a vibrant neutral pink color with a hint of coral undertone. It may look like a hot pink blush from the picture but once it is applied the warmth comes through.

If you have been following my blog for a while, you would know that I have been obsessed with nude to brown lips lately. The Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Super Nude is perfection. I was wowed by how flattering it looked on me for a nude color. I would describe it as a medium beige shade with a peachy undertone so it doesn’t wash you out. To me, this color is right on trend but also elegant, and is easy to wear.

As for the formula, in general, the Rouge Gloss has a lovely moisturizing and creamy consistency, and you can find a detailed review here for other colors. It goes on semi-opaque in a high shine finish and gives a plump effect.

This spring, Tom Ford released some stellar makeups from the Spring 2016 collection that just completely swept me off my feet. I have raved about their new eye quad in this post, and here I am gushing about their newest lip products which I adore even more – the Patent Finish Lip Colors. I bought the colors Stolen Cherry, Erotic and No Vacancy. These are the latest liquid lipsticks which a lot of brands seem to be doing at the moment. The Tom Ford is perfection – it is almost like my dream lip product that has finally come true as it has the intense pigmentation of a lipstick, the shine of a lip gloss, and the lasting power of a lip stain.

The Patent Lip Color comes in a click pen style with a slanted sponge applicator. As warned by the SA, first time use will require about 100 clicks to dispense the product. It has a milky and fluid consistency that feels luxuriously creamy and silky on the lips. Goes on weightless and conceals all the dry lines and flaky skin on the lips. It glides on like a lipstick as it doesn’t feel sticky nor does it feather and bleed like a typical lip gloss. The pigmentation is so rich so a little product goes a very long way.

For application, I would prefer to use a lip brush for a precise finish. Or the sponge applicator to dab the color on to the lip and quickly use the fingers to smear the color over the lips for a stain-like finish. As with all liquid lipsticks, the formula of this dries quickly during application, so it requires some attention for an even and well defined look. It looks ultra shiny when it is first applied, and takes about 15 seconds to completely settle into a semi glossy and creamy finish with a stain effect. Last but not least the lasting power is blowing me away. I normally apply this in the morning, and by noon (after about 5 cups of coffee), the color is still intact!

Erotic is a stunning bright pink that leans slightly cool. It has very fine magenta shimmer in it but is not detectable once applied on the lips.

No Vacancy is my favorite color of the three. It’s a bright coral red with a warm pink undertone. It is a fool proof bright color that would suit most complexions.
