I cannot believe I only did 10 posts for the month of Feb, though I felt I have done more than that…Shame on me! I really wish I can update my blog more as well as catching up on all the blogs that I follow…So I decided to do a quick post on the Chanel Le Vernis from the Spring 2012 Collection for Friday. I only bought May and June and passed on April which just doesn’t appeal to me for some reason…
The colors of May and June are very young and fresh. Chanel is the leading brand for fashion forward colors, and both shades fit right into the pastel-colored theme which is the key trend of the moment. What I love the most about them is they complement my skin tone perfectly! Both May and June are of standard Chanel Le vernis quality – 2 to 3 coats provide an opaque finish and they hardly chip on me.
May is a bright cherry blossom pink in cream finish – a neutral pink that would look lovely on any skintone.
Swatch of Chanel Le Vernis May with 3 coatsJune is a bright apricot shade in cream finish – it wins for its perfect balance between orange and peach which doesn’t pull too yellow/orangey on my skin.

So what is your favorite shade of this Spring collection?

Ever since I missed out on the infamous Chanel Jade Le Vernis (which was all sold out during pre-order!) I developed a quite odd addiction for green nail lacquers. Unquestionably, the Dior Le vernis in Waterlily 504 was on my must have list for this spring.
Waterlily contains a very subtle degree of emerald green shimmer that I did not even notice until I inspected it closely under the direct sunlight. Dior normally makes the best formulation for nail polishes in my opinion. With waterlily, unfortunately I thought the formula was little on the thick side, so I had to add a few drops of nail polish thinner as I personally prefer to apply 3 thin coats rather than 2 thick coats.
picture 1: taken under direct sunlight
The color is a leafy green on me. Picture was taken with 3 coats of waterlily without a topcoat.
Compared to OPI Mermaid’s Tears (reviewed here) and Essie Turquoise and Caicos which lean towards the cool side of green, Dior Waterlily appears very warm when swatched against them.
Bottom Line: Store your usual vampy and dark shades for now, Spring is all about pretty pastel hues, and Dior Waterlily is one of the most unique shades this season! Dior Le Vernis retails for AUD$39 in Australia.

Along with the Lumiére Sculptée Highlighting Powder, I have also picked up the Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss in 517 Triomphal and the Chanel le Vernis in Rouge Carat from the Chanel 2011 Holiday Collection, which explains why I am painted in red today.
To be honest I wasn’t that excited about this collection after seeing the testers. There were some lovely lippies in pink, rose and beige, but none of them really stood out for me as I am sooo in love with my Suqqu Creamy Glow lipsticks at the moment, so I would rather buy more Suqqu as the formulation is just perfection. Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss in Triomphal was a black horse as it wasn’t on my shopping list initially, but after putting in on my lips there was a ‘wow’ moment. I always adore the formulation of Rouge Allure Extrait De Glosses (reviewed here), and this one is just as good – semi opaque with a watery and translucent finish.
Triomphal is a striking rich red with fuchsia flecks but without grittiness. If you are scared of wearing red lips, Triomphal is a good starting point. The translucency and the moist finish makes it more wearable and youthful looking.
Chanel Le Vernis Rouge Carat is a stunning shimmery red with tons of magenta micro glitters! If you are into Chanel nail polishes, this one should not be missed.

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss retails for AUD$50 and Chanel Le Vernis retails for AUD$39.
So ladies, what is your must have from the Chanel 2011 Holiday Collection?

I thought I can have a small Chanel makeup break until the holiday collection arrives, but I caved in when I spotted the new Le Vernis Shades as part of the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet collection. There are three new shades being released – Pirate, Rose Caché and Rose Exubérant, and a new limited edition topcoat that provides a matte finish.
I picked up Pirate and Rose Caché. The quality of these is standard Chanel Le Vernis. Opaque and easy to apply, 2 to 3 coats gives a glossy and non streaky finish.
Out of the entire collection Pirate caught my attention immediately – it is a bold rich red in cream finish and there is no shimmers in it. It may not be the most unique red in the market, but after swatching it on my nails I decided I need this red in my life.
Swatches with 3 coats:
Compared to Chanel Le Vernis Fire, Pirate is slightly darker.
Rose Caché is a muted vintage pink with tiny flecks of pink shimmers. Like many other Chanel Le Vernis, it has a complex undertone depending on the angle I look at it. In some angles it leans pink with a hint of mauve undertone that comes from the shimmer, and in other angles it looks peachy beige when the shimmer is less noticeable. (I didn’t get a chance to capture the peach undertone though). Overall it is a unique neutral shade that gives a polished mannequin-hands look with an edge – definitely worth to check out.
I am not a fan of matte nails hence I didn’t pick up the matte topcoat. Do check out Joey from JoeySpace swatches here.

I was notified by my Dior SA that the much anticipated Dior Christmas Collection – the Rouge Or Collection is available for preview only in Sydney Australia now, and they will be on sale from the 18th of October. I dropped by the Dior counter today and swatched the beautiful nail polishes which I have set my eyes on.
In Australia, this collection is called Dior Daring Golden Collection
If you have the Chanel JC blush in Rouge and OR, then these two are pretty much the nail polish versions of them. Don’t you think?
Swatched with one single stroke.
Another two stunners
Other than the shade on the far right which reminded me of Chanel Peridot (I am sure it will pull too warm and muddy on my complexion), I will definitely be getting the rest of the collection. Dior’s formulation are amongst the best and these stunning shades cannot be missed by any nail polish lovers – they are unique and timeless at the same time.

This post has a mix of everything – I initially only wanted to show you the swatches of my Nars 0rgasm Collection. While taking swatch pictures of them, surprisingly my eye makeup of the day turned out really nice and sharp in the pictures thanks to the good lighting, so I like to share both with you.
Nars O blush was my first high end blush. To be honest I wasn’t that smitten with the shade at that time, as I thought it was just an ordinary peachy pink blush. As my makeup collection starts to build up and I have a wider range of colors to play with, I am becoming more fond of this shade. It is just a very easy-to-work-with shade and is flattering with almost any makeup look. It contains the right amount of shimmer which makes the finish neither too flat nor too shimmery – I do agree that it gives an O-glow as per the name haha. For a person like me who sleeps in almost every morning, there is nothing more convenient than a “no-brainer” shade.
I have already reviewed and compared the blush from the trio palette with the original blush, which you can find here.
I bought the Nars multiple 0rgasm after I came across a youtube clip of a professional MUA applying this nars on a gorgeous eurasian model. (sorry I can’t find the link as it was from a long time ago). I gasped when I saw the finish on her – it just looked soo beautiful. It is more pink with a more dewy finish compared to the original blush.
Nars Super O is a lovely peachy pink lipgloss, and again it is more on the pink side. Although it contains shimmers it applies smoothly and does not feel grainy on the lips.
Nars O Nail Polish
Group swatch: Except for the original blush, the rest all have a stronger pinkish undertone.
FOTD: Foundation was the Nars Sheer Matte. I had Nars Multiple O on my cheeks and the Nars Super O lipgloss on my lips.
On my eyes I used a mix of Nars eyeshadows: Nars Isolde over the lid and Nars Surabaya along the lash line with Nars Brumes on the outer v.
What is your favorite Nars O product? I am thinking to get the Nars O illumator..any thoughts?

Today is the Vogue Fashion’s Night Out in Sydney. As promised by Chanel, the Les Jeans De CHANEL nail collection created for the Fashion’s Night Out has debuted at the Chanel International Makeup Studios. They looked absolutely gorgeous in real life so I just had to have all three shades.
– Le Vernis Blue Rebel: a marine blue
– Le Vernis Blue Boy: a smoky blue with a hint of grey
– Le Vernis Coco Blue: a pale blue
Peter Philips – the Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, has developed a trio of blue lacquers, inspired by quintessence of casual chic: denim. A gradation of three shades, the colours range from deep to medium to very pale blue, evocative of the different styles and shades of one of the world’s largest wardrobe staples.
According the the Chanel ladies these three variations of blue are designed to be worn together – so I followed their idea. Chanel is probably the only brand that can make me wear 3 different shades of blue on one hand without looking inappropriate.
Must have for the Chanel collectors. If you haven’t picked them up yet in Sydney..Run!! They were selling faster than hot cakes!

I bought the Ombres Tissées Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges and the Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color 507 Tendresse a while ago (soon after I posted it here) but never had the time to swatch them for you. For the Chanel makeup lovers in Australia, unfortunately we have only received these two products from Les Aquarelles de Chanel Collection, which means we miss out on the rest of the products such as the JC blush in pink cloud and the Rouge Coco Shine in Royallieu which I am dying to get my hands on! As usual, both CafeMakeup and TheBeautyLookBook have great reviews for all the products from the Les Aquarelles de Chanel Collection.
The Ombres Tissées Iridescent Effects Eyes in Beiges is truely a master piece of art – it shines in the light like a precious jewel.
Once the overspray is removed it loses its glamorous appeal…
Swatches with the overspray
Swatches without the overspray are luminous but without the frost and glitters. They look the same on the skin once they are blended.
Layered it with a matte pink blush
FOTD: I have applied the Chanel Beiges on top of a matte grey shade on my eyes. On my cheeks I applied a pink cream cheek color on the apples then added the highlighter from the center of the apples towards the temples. I would say it is a good highlighter for people who are not overly tanned. On my NC15 complexion it delivers a soft candlelit glow to the face without changing the skin color.
Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color 507 Tendresse is a lovely nude neutral pink – my number one staple shade if I want my hands to look polished and clean. The consistency of this polish is very thin and liquidy compared to the other Le Vernis. I had to apply 4 thin coats to achieve a semi opaque jelly-like finish.
